What’s The Buzz @ Flickers 2012?

Rhode Island International Film Festival’s always-buzzing Flickers lineup is something of a hype-machine in and of itself, making our ability to see what’s trending with fest-go’ers leading up to the festival even easier! Opening tomorrow, August 07, 2012, RIIFF has definite standout films that you should make sure to catch during the fest, here are the three most-trending films (click on the titles to check out their film pages).

I Once Was Blind

The documentary I Once Was Blind witnesses the transformation of a young woman as she battles for her life and independence over a period of almost ten years. With humor and faith she wrestles blindness, kidney failure, and the discovery of her new husband’s addiction. Refusing to succumb to the crushing circumstances of her life she leaves family and friends, travels 1700 miles for mobility training, and becomes Residential Manager of the Colorado Center for the Blind.

Lost Years

An epic documentary touching upon 150 years of the Chinese diaspora in Canada, USA, New Zealand and Australia, covering four generations of racism as revealed through the journey and family story of Kenda Gee. Based on over 12 years of research and two-years in the making.

DxOne

DxONE is about a family coming to terms with their son’s diagnosis with type 1 diabetes and stars Benjamin Busch (author of the acclaimed book DUST TO DUST and actor from “The Wire” and “Generation Kill”) and the director’s son who was diagnosed with the disease three years ago.
